Safeguarding ELI's Independence and Integrity
ELI's credibility will depend on its ability to engage political institutions while remaining independent of partisan interests, financial pressures, and ideological conformity. Its founding charter will therefore incorporate three essential safeguards.
Political Independence
Financial Transparency
Independent Ethical Oversight
ELI will remain independent of political parties and electoral campaigns while maintaining the freedom to engage public officials across the political spectrum. Its purpose is to influence the ethical standards of leadership, not to advance partisan interests.
ELI will seek diversified and transparent funding arrangements designed to protect its intellectual independence. No donor or institutional partner should exercise control over its ethical judgments, research conclusions, or public positions.
ELI proposes establishing an international advisory and oversight body composed of respected scholars, civic leaders, and representatives of diverse intellectual traditions. Its responsibility will be to safeguard the initiative's founding principles, institutional integrity, and accountability.
Participate in the Founding Conversation
ELI is currently inviting a select international circle of scholars, religious thinkers, civic leaders, and prospective institutional partners to examine its founding proposal.
We welcome thoughtful observations, constructive criticism, and expressions of interest from individuals who share our conviction that political leadership must be guided by ethical responsibility.
Participation at this preliminary stage involves no financial obligation or formal institutional commitment.
